Key Themes at EuroCIS 2025
EuroCIS 2025 will highlight several crucial topics currently shaping the retail technology landscape:
Customer Centricity
The increasing digitization of consumer shopping behavior necessitates a seamless integration of all sales and communication channels for retail businesses. Technologies like IoT devices, mobile apps, and AI-driven analytics enable retailers to gain deeper insights into customer preferences. This allows for personalized recommendations, promotions, and services, creating a consistent and integrated shopping experience that fosters high customer satisfaction across all channels.
Smart Store
The rapid digitization of the retail industry has led to the incorporation of technological intelligence into brick-and-mortar stores. This has resulted in various automated store concepts with largely digitalized shopping processes. Sensor and image recognition technologies are pivotal, alongside "smart" shelves that monitor stock levels and identify out-of-stocks, intelligent electronic price tags and displays, and smart scales.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a major technological focus for many retail companies. AI already plays a significant role in data analysis, aiding retailers in sales forecasts, product range management, and pricing. The rise of generative AI and tools like ChatGPT has vastly expanded AI's potential applications across the industry. Retailers will increasingly rely on AI-based applications, incorporating image recognition and sensor technology, with a strong emphasis on process automation in stores to address the ongoing shortage of skilled labor.
Smart Energy Management
The surge in energy costs has intensified the need for companies to efficiently control, monitor, and adjust energy consumption. Intelligent technological applications help retailers visualize energy costs and consumption transparently. IoT-based applications enable a high degree of automation in energy management control, enhancing efficiency.
Cybersecurity
Cyberattacks pose a significant threat to retail companies. Protecting infrastructure and implementing effective emergency mechanisms are crucial. This includes safeguarding customer and supplier data, preventing card fraud, securing e-commerce platforms, ensuring operational resilience, and complying with legal regulations.
