22/x Invests in Context Labs, Sets Abu Dhabi MENA Headquarters

ABU DHABI – November 01, 2026 -- Context Labs B.V. has secured a strategic equity investment from 22/x, the Abu Dhabi-based AI-native investment and incubation platform established by the Nowais family, and will open its regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The two companies also signed a long-term agreement to expand Context Labs across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The announcement did not specify the investment amount.

Agreement covers regional deployment of sovereign AI infrastructure

The headquarters will serve customers and partners across the GCC and wider MENA region. The agreement also provides for regional deployment of Context Labs' AI Data Infrastructure, including the AI Distillery for sovereign AI. The Distillery lets organizations run frontier and open-weight AI models inside their own data centers, on their own verified data.

The companies will also develop industry applications for priority sectors, including energy, utilities and critical infrastructure. They plan to integrate with existing assets and ecosystems in the region.

Platform verifies data cryptographically to create audit trails for AI decisions

Context Labs' platform ingests fragmented operational, engineering and enterprise data and verifies it cryptographically at the source. It maintains a tamper-proof data fabric with full lineage and provenance. A library of industry-specific ontologies covers energy, chemicals, mining, commodities trading, logistics, utilities, pharmaceuticals and financial services.

In energy and critical infrastructure, the company says the platform can help operators demonstrate the integrity of their energy, respond to evolving market and regulatory requirements, and support more resilient operations.

22/x contributes incubation expertise and regional sovereign compute ties

22/x will draw on its experience incubating deep-tech and applied AI for critical infrastructure operations. It will also use its relationships with sovereign-aligned compute, data and distribution channels in the region. CEO Ahmed Nasser Al Nowais said the plan is to start with defined use cases in the UAE and build a repeatable path to scale across the GCC and MENA. He said success will be measured by operational visibility, auditable decisions and control over enterprise data.

Context Labs Founder, Chairman and CEO Dan Harple said the pitch to regional national champions is ownership: "AI is only as good as the data underneath it."

Context Labs, formed out of MIT research, has offices in Amsterdam, Cambridge (Mass.), Houston and Abu Dhabi.
