Aignostics Launches HETA Clinical AI to Cut Failed Molecular Tests

Berlin – October 16, 2026 -- Aignostics has launched HETA Clinical, a family of pan-cancer AI products aimed at the 10% to 20% of molecular tests that pathologists estimate fail because tissue contains too little tumor.

The first four products analyze whole slide H&E images across the pathology workflow, from intake and evaluation through to molecular testing. The company says the suite helps labs prioritize cases, cut turnaround time and confirm sufficient tumor content before molecular testing begins.

Four products target slide quality, tumor presence, mitoses and cellularity

HETA Quality Control measures slide quality before analysis and identifies a range of quality issues. HETA Tumor Detect annotates tumor regions and flags cases likely to contain tumor at scanning, so those cases are read first and additional stains can be ordered at intake.

HETA Mitosis counts mitoses to provide a reproducible mitotic count. HETA Tumor Cellularity measures tumor cell content and proposes a region with enough tumor to analyze with molecular testing.

Aignostics targets manual assessments that vary between readers

These assessments are usually made by eye, which is time-consuming, and visual estimates vary from one reader to the next. Aignostics cites pathologists at leading academic medical centers and precision medicine labs who link the 10% to 20% molecular test failure rate to insufficient tumor in the tissue. Failures can mean repeat biopsies and lengthy delays.

Dr. Rosemarie Krupar, VP of Pathology at Aignostics, said quantifying tumor content and mitotic count cell by cell is where AI delivers consistency at scale, freeing pathologists for work that requires their expertise.

HETA platform underpins all products and covers a broad range of cancers

All four products run on HETA, formerly Atlas H&E-TME, Aignostics' core pan-cancer platform for spatial H&E tissue analysis. In a recent study, HETA's cell classification matched or exceeded that of expert pathologists, according to the company. Because the platform covers a broad range of cancer types, HETA Clinical extends AI to a wide range of pathology subspecialties, not only the most common cancers.

More products and image management integrations are planned

Aignostics will release additional HETA Clinical products over time and integrate them with image management systems, including Techcyte Fusion AP. Pathologists using Fusion can request a demo through their Techcyte contact. The company also recently announced early access to PathoSearch, a visual search engine for pathology cases.

The products are for research use only and not for use in diagnostic procedures.
