Berlin – September 16, 2026 -- Aignostics has opened early access to PathoSearch, a visual search engine that retrieves diagnosed reference pathology cases from a single screenshot of an H&E slide, targeting the rare and complex cases that make up as much as 20% of a pathologist's caseload.
Database already spans 310,000 slides across 300 diagnostic entities
PathoSearch currently references more than 310,000 whole slide images drawn from over 35,000 cases, covering 300-plus diagnostic entities and 27-plus organs. The system is on track to exceed one million whole slide images by general availability. Coverage follows the WHO Classification of Tumours, focusing on malignant tumours across five organ groups -- thoracic, digestive, soft tissue and bone, female genital, and urinary and male genital -- with full coverage of all WHO-classified malignancies planned.
Tool cuts reliance on costly external consultations
Consultation fees at major cancer centers for difficult cases can run from several hundred to thousands of dollars, while textbook and database lookups add further delay. Dr. Simon Schallenberg, associate professor and pathologist at Charité -- Universitätsmedizin Berlin, said second opinions can take hours when images are shared digitally and days when glass slides must be shipped; having comparable diagnosed cases available immediately allows pathologists to start better informed.
Matches trace to real, validated cases powered by Atlas 2
PathoSearch runs on embeddings from Atlas 2, Aignostics' pathology foundation model co-developed with Mayo Clinic. Every retrieved match links to a real, diagnosed case that has been annotated and validated by pathologists, often confirmed by molecular testing, and is open for the reviewing pathologist to inspect against their own slide.
Techcyte Fusion AP becomes first integrated platform
Aignostics has made PathoSearch available inside image management systems, with the first integration now live on Techcyte Fusion AP. Pathologists using Fusion can request a demo through their Techcyte contact. PathoSearch is free during early access, with pathologists able to join a waitlist; the tool is designated for research use only and not for diagnostic procedures.
