Global – October 27, 2026 -- Akana 2026 introduces API Ops, a command-line feature that lets teams promote API products to production in a fully automated manner and plug the process into CI/CD tools such as Jenkins. Solutions engineer Olaf Van Gorp demonstrated the feature in a video for the Akana API Platform.
API Ops splits promotion duties between product and DevOps teams
The API product team typically handles export and import actions. The DevOps team reviews and approves changes, then pushes approved updates to a designated repository branch from which they can be imported.
Import process adjusts environment-specific settings
API endpoint hostnames, OAuth domains and policy configurations may need to change between source and target environments. API Ops applies these modifications during import to keep the process consistent.
The tool can also be configured to create related objects missing from the target environment, including policies, contracted apps and API user groups. Akana says this makes deployments repeatable, controlled and auditable.
Git workflow routes approved changes through a test branch
Once API product configuration updates are pushed to the remote git repository branch, the DevOps team reviews them. After approval, the updates are merged with other updates into the test branch.
From the test branch, the API product team imports the APIs into the Akana test environment for further testing. Integration with version control systems such as Git supports a structured delivery workflow for deploying API products to production.
