American Airlines Rolls Out Redesigned Safety Cards Fleetwide

SEATTLE – October 29, 2026 -- American Airlines is introducing redesigned passenger safety briefing cards across its fleet, developed with safety-card specialist The Interaction Group.

Redesign targets comprehension for all passengers

The new cards combine modern visual design with aircraft-specific accuracy. They were built to help travelers find and understand critical safety information quickly, regardless of age, language or travel experience.

Comprehension testing validated the cards before rollout

The Interaction Group evaluated the redesigned cards using its established comprehension testing. The testing assesses whether passengers can quickly locate, process and retain essential safety information.

Airline safety, inflight and brand teams shaped the project

The Interaction Group worked directly with American Airlines' safety, inflight and brand teams. Each card reflects the unique features of its aircraft while keeping a consistent look and feel across the fleet.

The work aims to meet operational and regulatory standards while updating how safety information is communicated, according to Trisha Ferguson, CEO of The Interaction Group. She described the project as a chance to "evolve safety communication."

The Interaction Group says it has worked on safety cards for more than 55 years and serves more than 600 airlines. The source gives no rollout timetable, cost figures or aircraft-type count for the American Airlines program.
