AOK Federal Association CEO Reimann Won't Seek Second Term

Berlin – October 29, 2026 -- Carola Reimann, chair of the executive board of the AOK-Bundesverband, will leave the post when her contract ends, after six years in the role. She cited personal reasons and will not run again for the association's executive board.

Reimann's contract runs to the end of 2027

Reimann, 59, has led the board since January 2022. She will continue her duties unchanged until her contract expires. She described working for the AOK community and the federal association as one of the most rewarding assignments in the German healthcare system, and said the decision was not easy.

Early announcement is meant to allow a seamless handover

Reimann has already informed the responsible committees and the association's staff. According to the association, the early notice allows prompt succession planning and a seamless transition.

Supervisory board chairs express regret

Supervisory board chairs Susanne Wagenmann, representing the employer side, and Lutz Schäffer, representing the insured side, said in an initial response that they regret the decision. The responsible committees will now deliberate on next steps.
