Paris – October 12, 2026 -- Asterion Industrial Partners has entered an exclusive agreement on the contemplated acquisition of Fraikin, a pan-European commercial vehicle lessor with about €1 billion in revenue and a fleet gross book value of roughly €3 billion. The sellers are affiliates of Fraikin's ultimate majority shareholders: Benefit Street Partners, Värde Partners and Canyon Partners. The announcement does not state a purchase price.
Fraikin's multi-year transformation precedes the sale
Fraikin management says the business has completed a multi-year transformation that improved financial performance and resilience across its European markets. The group manages more than 50,000 vehicles across ten European countries. Its customers include healthcare, food distribution, utilities, waste management, logistics and public services.
Asterion sets three investment priorities for Fraikin
Under Asterion's ownership, Fraikin will focus on fleet and European platform investment, moving customers to lower-carbon mobility, and digitalising its fleet management offering. CEO Yves Pétin said the ambition is to build the "leading European commercial vehicle fleet management infrastructure platform."
Asterion Partner Bice Di Gregorio said the deal fits the firm's energy transition commitment, citing a significant opportunity to shift Fraikin's fleet toward lower-emission vehicles.
Fraikin becomes a key French holding for Asterion
Operating Partner Sergio Val described Fraikin as a key investment for Asterion's French franchise, noting the company has served France's commercial vehicle sector for more than 80 years. Asterion plans to back investment in the fleet, maintenance network and digital capabilities, and to pursue what Val called disciplined growth across its markets.
Asterion manages $10 billion and invests in energy, digital, utilities and mobility infrastructure. Its Asterion Industrial Infra Fund III closed in September 2025 with total commitments of €3.4 billion.
Closing is expected in the first quarter of 2027
Completion depends on employee information and consultation processes and on regulatory approvals. BofA Securities and Lazard advised the majority shareholders and management, with Latham & Watkins as legal counsel.
