ATS Energy Hires Ex-Shell Executive as CTO, Adds Two Directors

Loveland – November 03, 2026 -- ATS Energy, maker of a Solid-State Generator that converts industrial thermal energy directly into electricity without moving parts, has appointed former Shell executive Ed Ganja as Chief Technology Officer and board member, and added Mike Kleinberg and Brandon Beehler to its Board of Directors.

The appointments follow the company's recently announced financing round. ATS is moving from technology validation to repeatable manufacturing and commercial deployment across multiple industrial markets. The source does not disclose the size of the round.

Ganja, a Shell catalyst technology VP, takes over the engineering roadmap

Ganja brings nearly two decades of industrial technology and engineering experience from Shell. He most recently served there as Vice President, Catalyst and Analytical Technology, and previously led catalyst research and refining catalyst technology. At ATS he will run the technology roadmap and engineering capabilities and guide the shift to commercial manufacturing. He holds a PhD from the University of Illinois Chicago.

"My focus is repeatable engineering and manufacturing," Ganja said, with the aim of delivering reliable systems to customers at scale.

Forge Nano CFO Kleinberg joins the board with a $1.6 billion Nasdaq listing behind him

Kleinberg is Chief Financial Officer of Forge Nano, a CU Boulder spinout. Forge Nano recently began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker NANO after a business combination with Archimedes Tech SPAC Partners II that valued it at approximately $1.6 billion. That made it CU Boulder's 11th unicorn. Kleinberg has also served as CFO of other technology and manufacturing companies and previously worked in investment banking.

He described ATS as building a capital-efficient manufacturing model and said he will help the team manage capital requirements and build manufacturing capabilities.

Beehler adds heavy-industrial project delivery experience

Beehler is a registered Professional Engineer with more than a decade of experience delivering projects at heavy industrial facilities. His work spans refining, gas processing, chemical processing and power generation, from concept through startup and commissioning. He currently works at Ultra Capital, an investor in energy transition and infrastructure. He previously managed the Energy Business unit at Harris Group, an engineering design firm.

ATS expands production through contract manufacturing partners

ATS is advancing its initial commercial deployments and expanding manufacturing capacity through a network of specialized contract manufacturing partners. CEO Doug Hudson said the new leaders bring the engineering, financial and investment leadership needed for this phase.

The company won the 2024 Earthshot Prize in the Fix Our Climate category. It also took second place in the Innovations for Traditional Energy, Electricity & the Grid category at the 2026 Energy Venture Day and Pitch Competition during CERAWeek.
