AT&T Reaffirms $45B Shareholder Return Plan Ahead of Goldman Fireside Chat

Dallas – September 12, 2026 -- AT&T Chairman and CEO John Stankey will address investors tomorrow at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, reiterating the company's plan to return more than $45 billion to shareholders between 2026 and 2028 through dividends and buybacks.

AT&T added more than 1 million advanced connectivity subscribers in the second quarter

The carrier posted a record quarter for combined fiber and fixed wireless net adds, contributing to faster year-over-year growth in consolidated service revenue and profitability compared with the first quarter of 2026. AT&T said growing numbers of accounts are bundling wireless and home internet services, a trend it points to as evidence its convergence strategy is gaining traction with customers.

AT&T confirms $10 billion in share buybacks planned for 2026

The company reiterated the financial outlook and capital allocation plan issued alongside its second-quarter 2026 earnings, including expectations for improved adjusted EBITDA and adjusted EPS growth and higher free cash flow through 2028. AT&T also expects its net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio to return to a target range of 2.5x within approximately three years.

Capital spending will normalize in the second half of 2026 versus 2025's fiber ramp-up

AT&T said capital investment for the remainder of 2026 will be more ratable compared with the second half of 2025, when the company was accelerating fiber deployment. Free cash flow is expected to remain relatively stable year-over-year in the third quarter, with strong growth anticipated in the fourth quarter.

Fiber expansion is expected to pressure ARPU even as wireless pricing drives revenue growth

AT&T said continued growth in AT&T Fiber customers, driven by expanding network reach, is expected to affect fiber ARPU during the third quarter. At the same time, the company said its wireless pricing strategy, including new plans and pricing actions, is expected to support strong wireless service revenue growth in the same period.

Stankey's remarks are scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET, with the session available via live and archived webcast on AT&T's investor relations site.
