Ponte Vedra, Fla. – October 27, 2026 -- Cadrenal Therapeutics (Nasdaq: CVKD) has launched a structured process to secure out-licensing, portfolio monetization or co-development partners for its late-stage cardiovascular assets, after grouping them into a Cardiac Acute Critical Care Franchise.
The company is exploring development, licensing and commercialization deals for CAD-1005, frunexian and tecarfarin. It describes the approach as capital-efficient and says it is shifting to a partnership-driven business model.
Phase 2 CAD-1005 data show more than 25% absolute reduction in thrombotic events
Cadrenal presented late-breaking Phase 2 data for CAD-1005 earlier this month at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) 2026 Congress in Paris. In patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), the drug cut thrombotic events by more than 25% in absolute terms. The company also reported a favorable safety and renal-protective baseline.
CAD-1005 is an IV 12-LOX inhibitor. It holds Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and orphan drug status from the European Medicines Agency.
Franchise splits portfolio into three commercial pillars
The franchise is organized as follows:
- Pre-operative safety: Frunexian IV, a Factor XIa inhibitor for HIT-susceptible patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Cadrenal describes it as Phase 2-ready.
- Orphan regulatory acceleration: Tecarfarin, described as Phase 3-ready. Potential Orphan Drug Designation pathways could bring fee waivers and seven-year market exclusivity.
- Post-operative shield: CAD-1005, described as Phase 3-ready. Cadrenal says it may also reduce cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury by blocking the inflammatory 12-HETE cascade.
CEO Quang X. Pham said the ISTH data validated the franchise and that the pillar structure is meant to maximize asset value and shorten the path to commercialization with large industry partners.
Tecarfarin protocols expand into pediatric Kawasaki disease
Cadrenal is expanding tecarfarin clinical protocols to rare pediatric indications, including giant coronary artery aneurysms caused by Kawasaki Disease. The company says this could potentially qualify the asset for a Priority Review Voucher. It continues to support the drug in end-stage kidney disease and left ventricular assist devices. Cadrenal highlights tecarfarin's carboxylesterase-1-mediated metabolism, which it says helps avoid drug-drug interactions.
Preclinical oral 12-LOX candidate CAD-2000 sits outside the franchise
Cadrenal is also advancing CAD-2000, a preclinical, orally bioavailable 12-lipoxygenase inhibitor for chronic cardiorenal inflammatory and thrombotic indications. The company positions it as an outpatient follow-on to the IV acute care assets, which could let a partner cover both inpatient and chronic care settings.
