Cadrenal Seeks Partners for 3 Cardiac Assets as Cash Lasts to Q1 2027

PONTE VEDRA – October 27, 2026 -- Cadrenal Therapeutics (Nasdaq: CVKD) has launched a structured partnering process for three cardiovascular assets while holding about $4.2 million in cash, enough to fund operations only through the first quarter of 2027.

The company is exploring development, licensing and commercialization deals for CAD-1005, frunexian and tecarfarin. It is pursuing out-licensing, portfolio monetization and commercial co-development rather than funding large late-stage trials on its own. Cadrenal said it will not start a clinical trial unless funding to complete that trial is in place.

Second-quarter net loss narrows to $3.3 million on lower R&D spending

Research and development expenses fell to $0.7 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, from $1.1 million a year earlier. General and administrative expenses were $2.6 million, against $2.7 million in the prior-year period.

Total operating expenses declined to $3.3 million from $3.7 million. Net loss matched operating expenses at $3.3 million, down from $3.7 million.

Cash of $4.2 million cannot carry products to trial readiness

Cadrenal states that its existing resources are not sufficient to bring its product candidates to clinical trial readiness or to complete any trials. Possible funding sources include strategic partnerships, out-licensing, non-dilutive grants, and equity or debt financing.

A private placement generated approximately $3.0 million in gross proceeds. Full cash exercise of the associated warrants would add up to approximately $5.8 million, though the company gives no assurance that any warrants will be exercised. Cadrenal also signed an agreement with a global firm that has collectively secured more than $500 million in non-dilutive funding for life science companies.

CAD-1005 Phase 2 data show over 25% absolute cut in thrombotic events

Cadrenal presented late-breaking Phase 2 data on CAD-1005 at the ISTH 2026 Congress in Paris. In the randomized, blinded, placebo-controlled study, adding CAD-1005 to standard anticoagulant therapy produced an absolute reduction of more than 25% in thrombotic events. The company reports a favorable safety profile and renal-protective baseline.

CEO Quang X. Pham said the goal is to convert clinical and regulatory progress into strategic value while staying capital disciplined. Cadrenal has received regulatory guidance on the Phase 3 path for CAD-1005 and is pursuing the drug in heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) and Cardiac Surgery-Associated Acute Kidney Injury (CSA-AKI).

CAD-1005 holds FDA Orphan Drug Designation for thrombosis prophylaxis in HIT patients and FDA Fast Track designation for HIT. It also holds a European Medicines Agency orphan designation for platelet-activating factor 4 disorders.

FDA receives Rare Pediatric Disease Designation request for tecarfarin on July 8

Cadrenal submitted the request on July 8, 2026, for tecarfarin in preventing life-threatening blood clots inside coronary artery aneurysms in children with Kawasaki Disease. Tecarfarin already holds FDA Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations.

The company is also advancing CAD-2000, a preclinical oral 12-lipoxygenase inhibitor for chronic cardiorenal inflammatory and thrombotic indications, as a potential follow-on to its intravenous acute care platform.
