Amsterdam – September 05, 2026 -- Canopy International B.V. has acquired Aviotec S.r.l., a Turin-based supplier of multi-layer insulation blankets and electrical harnesses for satellites, in a move to expand its footprint in Europe's space supply chain.
Aviotec brings 15 years of thermal-protection expertise to Canopy's European platform
Founded in 2008, Aviotec has built more than 15 years of experience designing and manufacturing flight-qualified MLI blankets and high-reliability electrical harnesses for satellites and spacecraft. The Turin-based company also provides in-house satellite design, integration and test services, supporting institutional space programs and a growing base of commercial customers across Europe's space economy.
Deal preserves local leadership while adding capital and engineering resources
Aviotec's leadership team, facility, design authority and customer relationships remain in place under existing management, led by Amministratore Delegato Barbara Barresi. Canopy International, the Amsterdam-based European operating platform of Canopy Aerospace & Defense, will supply additional funding, engineering knowledge and manufacturing capacity to support Aviotec's continued growth.
Raffaele Mozzillo, Managing Director of Canopy International, said Aviotec's clean-room facility in Turin and its depth in thermal protection and harnessing strengthen the platform in a critical technical area, giving Aviotec access to the engineering, R&D and supply-chain resources of a larger organization.
Acquisition extends Canopy A&D's reach across Italy, the UK and the US
Canopy Aerospace & Defense operates facilities in Los Angeles, Denver, Cape Canaveral, the United Kingdom and Italy, positioning the group as a vertically integrated supplier of signal-attenuating advanced materials for air, land, sea and space platforms. The Aviotec deal marks a continued push by Canopy International to consolidate specialized aerospace suppliers across Europe while maintaining local customer-facing operations.
