Shanghai – September 08, 2026 -- Carestream Healthcare International has launched an upgraded version of its DRX LC detector, adding AI-driven exposure control and noise cancellation to improve single-shot long-length imaging (LLI) for spine and long-bone exams.
New detector eliminates multi-exposure stitching for long-bone and spine exams
Long-length imaging has traditionally required multiple exposures and image stitching, extending patient immobilization time and increasing the risk of retakes. The updated DRX LC captures full spine and long-bone studies in a single exposure, reducing scan time and repeat-rate risk for radiology departments.
AI-based exposure control and noise cancellation target dose reduction and diagnostic accuracy
The detector's exposure control (DEC) system automatically adjusts imaging parameters to deliver uniform exposure and reduce dose variability. A companion Smart Noise Cancellation (SNC) feature reduces image noise while preserving fine detail, according to Carestream, enabling higher-quality images at lower radiation doses.
Marco Riolfo, director of the detector product line at Carestream Healthcare International, said the upgrades combine single-shot capture with intelligent exposure control and AI-based noise reduction to simplify radiology workflows while improving diagnostic reliability.
Detector compatibility spans digital radiography rooms, mobile systems and operating rooms
Carestream designed the DRX LC for cross-platform use, allowing a single detector to operate across digital radiography suites, mobile imaging systems and adaptable configurations. The company positions this flexibility as enabling healthcare providers to deploy one unit across radiology departments and operating rooms rather than maintaining separate hardware for each setting.
