China Pitches Six MICE Destinations to US Buyers at IMEX America

Las Vegas – – October 14, 2026 -- The China National Tourist Office (CNTO) in Los Angeles is pitching six Chinese destinations to North American meeting buyers from an approximately 1,000-square-foot pavilion at IMEX America 2026, held Oct. 13-15 at Mandalay Bay.

China Pavilion groups Beijing, Hunan, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Sichuan and Guangxi under one theme

The island runs under the theme "China: Where Business Meets Extraordinary Experiences" and includes MICE industry partners alongside the six destinations. It targets meeting planners, incentive travel companies and corporate decision makers, and presents convention facilities, international hotel networks and customized incentive programs.

Each destination carries a distinct selling point:

  • Beijing pairs international meeting facilities with the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
  • Hunan offers the Zhangjiajie karsts that inspired the film Avatar.
  • Shaanxi centers on Xi'an and the Terracotta Warriors.
  • Jiangsu markets historic waterfront water towns.
  • Sichuan combines cosmopolitan facilities with gastronomy and panda habitats.
  • Guangxi targets executive retreats and incentive programs with karst scenery and river journeys.
CNTO cites transport, payments and a 240-hour visa-free transit policy as access improvements

The office points to advances in transportation connectivity, digital payment accessibility and international visitor services. Eligible travelers may use China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy, subject to nationality and itinerary requirements.

CNTO Director Dawei Wu targets North American travel trade relationships

Wu said planners are looking beyond traditional venues for destinations that foster creativity and connection. "China is not simply one destination," he said, describing it as a world of possibilities for meeting and incentive planners.

CNTO Los Angeles plans to use destination presentations and business-to-business meetings to raise China's visibility in the North American MICE market, cultivate new partnerships and encourage planners to consider China for upcoming international programs.
