Saavi Energía Closes Grupo México Merger, Forms 4.5 GW Platform

Mexico City – September 12, 2026 -- Saavi Energía S.à r.l. has closed its merger with Grupo México, S.A.B. de C.V., creating a combined power generation platform with 4.5 GW of capacity across Mexico.

Merger creates 10-plant platform with mobile generation and gas compression assets

The completed transaction merges Saavi Energía's existing facilities with Grupo México's power generation assets. The resulting platform comprises 10 power plants located in high-demand regions of Mexico, one mobile power generation business, and three gas compression stations.

Grupo México takes 70% stake, GIP retains 30% ownership

Following the closing, Grupo México holds a 70% stake in Saavi Energía, while Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a subsidiary of BlackRock, owns the remaining 30%. Saavi Energía stated the combination is expected to strengthen its financial position and expand its operational scale.
