Statesville, N.C. – – September 15, 2026 -- Kewaunee Scientific Corporation (NASDAQ: KEQU) reported first-quarter fiscal 2027 sales of $66.3 million, down 6.7% from $71.1 million a year earlier, even as order backlog rose to $169.0 million from $165.9 million at the end of April.

Net earnings drop to $1.7 million on lower manufacturing volumes

Pre-tax earnings fell 34.7% to $2.56 million from $3.92 million in the prior-year quarter, while net earnings declined to $1.706 million from $3.093 million. Diluted earnings per share came in at $0.58, down from $1.04. EBITDA for the quarter totaled $4.525 million versus $6.32 million a year ago. Backlog, while up sequentially, remains well below the $205.0 million recorded on July 31, 2025.
