WLRN Names Murrow Award Winner Carlton Gillespie Host of Florida Roundup

Miami – – September 15, 2026 -- WLRN Public Media has named Carlton Gillespie, a 2026 National Edward R. Murrow Award winner, as the new permanent host of The Florida Roundup, its flagship weekly public affairs program, as the show enters its second decade on air.

Gillespie rises from newsroom intern to lead statewide weekly program

Gillespie began his WLRN career as an intern before becoming the station's Broward County Bureau Reporter, covering government, elections, education, housing, public safety and culture. He had already served as a recurring contributor, guest and fill-in host on The Florida Roundup before taking the permanent host role.

WLRN Names Tom Hudson Permanent CEO, Shifts Florida Roundup Host

Miami – September 12, 2026 -- WLRN Public Media has named Tom Hudson as permanent Chief Executive Officer following a nationwide search, ending his tenure as Interim CEO and triggering a reshuffle of the organization's flagship programming.

Board confirms Hudson after nationwide leadership search

South Florida Public Media Group Board Chair Cheryl Wilke said Hudson combines journalistic integrity, collaboration and innovation needed to guide WLRN through what she called a critical period for public media. Hudson will oversee WLRN's television, radio, digital, journalism and community engagement operations across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties.
