Miami and Santa Monica, Calif. – September 13, 2026 -- Crossmint and Tala have launched a partnership pairing stablecoin wallet infrastructure with on-chain credit underwriting, starting with more than 1 million active customers in Mexico.
Tala embeds Crossmint smart wallets for over 1 million Mexican users
Tala is rolling out a new in-app wallet experience built on Crossmint's smart wallet and stablecoin payment infrastructure, initially for its active customer base in Mexico. Customers hold balances in a digital asset pegged to the Mexican peso on the Solana blockchain and earn rewards for on-time loan repayment. Rewards settle within seconds rather than days and can be held, spent, or converted to cash.
Tala plans to expand the wallet with additional digital asset services, including balance-based benefits and inbound cross-border transfers, and extend the model to other markets it serves.
Crossmint developers gain direct access to Tala's underwriting engine
Crossmint is integrating Tala's Credit-as-a-Service so that neobanks, remittance providers, and payroll companies building on its platform can add unsecured credit without constructing their own lending stack, hiring a risk team, or deploying their own balance sheet. Tala supplies the capital and AI-native underwriting; Crossmint provides the wallet and repayment rails.
Shivani Siroya, Founder and CEO of Tala, said companies can activate unsecured credit and provide instant liquidity to users within days through the integration.
Partnership targets a credit gap affecting 44% of adults in emerging economies
According to the World Bank's Global Findex 2025, 44% of adults in low- and middle-income economies could not reliably access extra money in an emergency. Tala has spent more than a decade underwriting thin-file customers across Latin America, Asia, and Africa using behavioral and alternative data signals, while Crossmint provides embedded wallets, on/offramps, and stablecoin orchestration through a single API.
Tala has distributed more than $9 billion in capital to over 14 million customers across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, backed by more than $500 million in funding. Crossmint counts Ribbit Capital and Franklin Templeton among its investors.
