Danobatgroup Wins Shanghai Permit for Asia-Pacific HQ Project

BEIJING – October 28, 2026 -- Spanish machine tool producer Danobatgroup obtained a construction permit on September 24 for its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai Xinzhuang Industry Park, one day after securing the land plot.

The project in Minhang District will integrate high-end CNC machine tool R&D, manufacturing and exhibition functions. The company selected Minhang after more than two years of site selection.

Supply-chain density swayed the site decision after an early-2024 visit

A Danobatgroup team first visited the park in early 2024 and did not commit at the time. The park's investment promotion team then presented its industrial map, on which Danobatgroup's China head identified numerous global supply-chain partners, including some long-standing contacts from Europe.

Executives from the Spanish headquarters later traveled to Shanghai for field studies, meetings with supply-chain partners and talks with municipal and district leaders.

Danobatgroup and eight entities launched a Shanghai machine tool alliance in January 2025

After reviewing Shanghai's high-end equipment industry planning and Minhang's machine tool development plans, Danobatgroup and eight other entities, including TOPNC, jointly initiated an alliance in January 2025. The group aims to foster coordination and innovation in Shanghai's machine tool industry.

Danobatgroup evaluated alternatives in other localities before choosing Shanghai. The investment agreement was signed in February 2026.

Danobatgroup China CEO describes shift from sales presence to long-term development

Zhong Heming, CEO of Danobatgroup China, said the Shanghai headquarters marks a pivotal step in the company's move from a sales-focused presence to deeper, long-term development in China. He said Minhang offers more than an industrial plot, providing an ecosystem for collaborative innovation.

Zhong added that local government teams are ready to work with the company to navigate approval processes.
