DELRAY BEACH – November 02, 2026 -- The dental 3D printing market will grow from USD 4.35 billion in 2026 to USD 10.08 billion by 2031, a CAGR of 18.3%, according to MarketsandMarkets.
Materials segment grows fastest at 21.3% CAGR
By product and service, materials are expected to post the highest CAGR in the forecast period, at 21.3%. By technology, VAT photopolymerization held the largest share in 2025 at 61.5%. The category includes stereolithography (SLA) and digital light processing (DLP), which are used for crowns, bridges, surgical guides, occlusal splints and aligners.
Biocompatible resins allow both temporary and permanent restorations. Small clinics and dental support organizations (DSOs) are adopting the technology as new systems become more affordable, compact and user-friendly, according to the report.
Dental laboratories lead end-user demand, North America leads regions
Dental laboratories are the largest end-user segment. They produce prosthetics, crowns, dentures, veneers and night guards. Larger laboratory chains are adopting the technology because of their purchasing power, and outsourced fabrication to these labs is increasingly common.
North America held the largest regional share in 2025. The report cites its developed healthcare system, high disposable incomes, demand for cosmetic and restorative treatments, and the concentration of dental 3D printing companies in the region.
Stratasys (US and Israel), 3D Systems (US) and Align Technology (US) are named as leading players.
Regulatory hurdles, upfront costs and skills shortage restrain growth
MarketsandMarkets lists regulatory hurdles, high upfront costs, operational expenses and a shortage of skilled workers as constraints. Drivers include rising oral health awareness, a growing global population and improvements in printer hardware, software and materials.
SprintRay, Align and Pac-Dent drive deal activity
In October 2022, SprintRay raised more than USD 100 million in Series D funding led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2, to support expansion across Europe and the United States. In January 2024, Align Technology completed its acquisition of Cubicure for total purchase consideration of about USD 85.8 million, including the fair value of its pre-existing ownership interest. The deal expanded Align's direct 3D printing, materials and orthodontic appliance manufacturing capabilities.
In September 2025, SprintRay acquired the EnvisionTEC/ETEC dental product portfolio, including patents, trademarks, inventory and intellectual property. The value was not disclosed. In the same month, Pac-Dent acquired Ackuretta Technologies, combining its Rodin resins with Ackuretta's printers, post-processing equipment and ALPHA AI CAM software. In October 2025, Angelalign Technology made an undisclosed strategic investment in LuxCreo for joint development of clear aligner materials.
Recurring materials and services widen the revenue base
Printer installations generate follow-on demand for consumables and support services, the report notes. Stratasys launched its TrueDent-D resin in Europe in January 2025, extending its monolithic digital denture offering. 3D Systems reported strong double-digit sequential growth in its dental business in the fourth quarter of 2025, supported by an aligner market recovery and the launch of its denture manufacturing technology.
SprintRay sells paid Cloud Design services and design subscriptions. Its Design Suite combines automated design, professional design assistance and outsourced print-and-ship services.
