SHERIDAN, WYOMING – August 6, 2025 – Deutsche Telekom has officially expanded its nationwide 5G+ Gaming offering to include iPhone users, delivering ultra-low-latency mobile gaming through its standalone 5G network. As the first European network operator to offer consumer-facing network slicing, the company is redefining mobile cloud gaming by pairing technical innovation with broad accessibility.
Bringing Standalone 5G Gaming to a Wider Consumer Base
Deutsche Telekom’s 5G+ Gaming service leverages its expansive 5G Standalone (SA) network, now the largest of its kind in Germany. Previously exclusive to Android users, the service now supports all iPhones in the 15 and 16 series—including the newly added iPhone 16e—and integrates seamlessly with the latest Samsung Galaxy S25 models. This update significantly broadens access to latency-optimized gaming, targeting both casual and competitive gamers on the move.
The cornerstone of this service is real-time performance via network slicing, a feature that allocates dedicated virtual network resources to gaming traffic. Combined with Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable Throughput (L4S), this architecture enables ultra-smooth gameplay—critical for immersive genres like action, racing, and multiplayer esports.
Cloud-Based Gaming Without Hardware Constraints
Deutsche Telekom’s offering includes discounted access to Sora Stream, a cloud gaming platform developed by Ludium Lab and distributed through ALSO. The platform hosts over 500 games, ranging from indie titles like Mail Time to global hits such as Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy. Importantly, users can launch many of their own Steam or Epic Games Store libraries directly through the app—removing the need for additional downloads or high-end devices.
The Sora Stream platform is now accessible via both iOS and Android apps, downloadable from the App Store and Google Play. Subscription pricing for Telekom customers is currently discounted by 50% through October 2025, with options starting at €1.49 per week and €49.99 annually.
Aligning with Industry Momentum in Mobile Gaming
This rollout aligns with larger trends in mobile-first entertainment and cloud-based interactivity, particularly as telcos and technology firms race to monetize next-gen network capabilities. Cloud gaming has gained significant traction in Europe as consumers seek high-performance experiences without the hardware expense, while device makers like Apple and Samsung increasingly prioritize 5G+ compatibility.
By fusing telecom-grade infrastructure with consumer-grade accessibility, Deutsche Telekom positions itself at the forefront of this shift—creating a bridge between 5G innovation and real-world entertainment utility.
“The innovative 5G technology ensures a smooth game and more fun while playing.” This quote from Deutsche Telekom underscores the emphasis on experience over specs—a trend echoed in similar moves by cloud gaming rivals and telecom operators globally.
Operational Value and Future Expansion
For network operators and cloud partners, the implications are strategic. The integration of network slicing and L4S technology not only improves gaming, but also sets a precedent for specialized connectivity in other sectors—such as remote surgery, autonomous vehicles, and industrial IoT.
Hospitals and edge-data solution providers may draw lessons from Telekom’s approach in segmenting bandwidth-intensive applications without compromising other network functions. The modularity of 5G SA architecture offers the potential for purpose-built performance in a variety of mission-critical workflows.
