Rehovot, Israel – October 14, 2026 -- EcoPhage has signed a distribution agreement with Agricultura Nacional, S.A. de C.V. ("Dragon") to market and sell its phage-based biopesticides across Mexico, with Dragon's status as distributor subject to agreed commercial targets.
Dragon starts with GoldenEco and EcoFire
Dragon will initially distribute two products: GoldenEco® and EcoFire®. GoldenEco, EcoPhage's flagship, was recently approved by the U.S. EPA and is being developed for bacterial disease management in tomatoes and peppers. EcoFire targets bacterial diseases in fruit crops.
Dragon will handle marketing and distribution nationwide. It will draw on its local market expertise, commercial infrastructure and agricultural relationships to establish the products with Mexican growers.
Resistance and residue concerns drive demand for alternatives to copper and antibiotics
Bacterial disease programs have traditionally relied heavily on copper-based products and, in certain applications, antibiotics. According to the announcement, concerns over resistance, environmental impact, residues and evolving regulation are raising demand for biological alternatives. EcoPhage's platform uses bacteriophages, viruses that specifically target and destroy bacteria.
EcoPhage frames Mexico as a step in its global rollout
Guy Elitzur, EcoPhage CEO, called the deal an important step in the company's global commercialization strategy. He said the company is "building a long-term commercial platform" that could carry additional EcoPhage products into Mexican agriculture.
Martin Fueyo Mac Donald, Dragon's CEO, said demand for effective and sustainable crop protection continues to grow in Mexico. He said Dragon intends to build a strong commercial presence there.
The announcement contains no financial terms, volume targets or launch timeline.
