Element Pay Cuts Fleet Fuel Costs 15% at Crown Capital

Toronto – October 29, 2026 -- Crown Capital, a management company for roofing-related businesses, reports 15% overall savings and $150,000 in potential fraudulent fuel spending identified over 90 days after adopting Element Pay, a cardless fuel payment solution launched by Element Fleet Management Corp. (TSX: EFN).

Crown Capital also cut the time spent helping crews resolve fuel-payment issues by 25%. Element Pay is run by the company's Element Mobility unit and is designed to replace physical fuel cards.

Vehicle authorizes each fuel transaction instead of a card

Element Pay uses the vehicle to initiate and authorize direct-pay transactions. A driver cannot independently authorize a payment unless the associated vehicle is authenticated. Drivers pay through the Element Pay app using direct pay, or use tap to pay at supported stations where direct pay is unavailable.

Fleet teams can see transactions in real time, set spending rules and match digital receipts to purchases automatically. Connected vehicle data can add checks, but telematics is not required.

Controls target price overspend and fraud before payment

Element says drivers choose higher-priced stations about 20% of the time. Fleet managers can restrict purchases at expensive locations, including the 10% most expensive stations, and set spending limits.

The company states that up to 12% of fuel spending could be at risk of fraud. Element Pay links purchases to vehicles, blocks transactions that fail vehicle verification and spending requirements, and flags suspicious activity.

Based on illustrative fleet savings estimates, Element says Element Pay can deliver up to 5.5 times the savings of traditional fuel cards. It also says that removing physical cards reduces lost-card issues, PIN problems and card-management costs.

Digital onboarding and reconciliation reduce fleet admin time

New drivers can be onboarded in seconds, without waiting for cards to be mailed or distributed. Digital receipts and automatic reconciliation cut the time fleet and finance teams spend matching purchases, handling paperwork and resolving payment issues.

"Every fuel purchase is an opportunity to save money, but too often fleets don't have the tools to act before that money is spent," said Oliver Hahn, Head of Element Mobility.

Joel Vazquez, Director of Fleet Operations at Crown Capital, said the tool reduced interruptions for crews and gave the company better control over fuel spending.

Network covers 85,000 U.S. fueling locations

Element Pay currently provides access to more than 85,000 supported fueling locations across the United States. Element plans to extend vehicle-based payments to maintenance, tolls, violations, EV charging and other vehicle-related expenses.
