Edinburgh – October 27, 2026 -- Excelra has taken over the bioinformatics services of Fios Genomics Ltd and the Edinburgh team behind them, effective 20 October 2026. The move adds omics analytics capacity to the scientific informatics company's UK and European operations.
Fios team joins Excelra's scientific consulting group
The Fios scientists become part of Excelra's wider scientific consulting group. They will keep serving existing Fios clients on the same platform, according to the companies. The announcement does not disclose financial terms.
Fios was founded in 2008 as a University of Edinburgh spin-out. It has spent nearly two decades analysing genomics, transcriptomics and multi-omics studies for pharma, biotech and other life science researchers.
Excelra adds data assets, AI engineering and domain specialists
Jannick Bendtsen, Vice President of Bioinformatics at Excelra, said the Fios team now has Excelra's data assets, AI engineering and a far larger pool of domain specialists behind it. He said Fios's study-level analysis fits Excelra's focus on integrative multi-omics, translational insight and scientific AI.
Excelra's portfolio includes the GOSTAR platform and connected lab informatics, alongside its multi-omics expertise.
Leadership frames deal as continuity for clients
Sarah Lynagh, CEO of Fios Genomics, described the transfer as a step toward "continuity and making a larger impact for our clients." She said Excelra shares Fios's quality standards and brings broader data science and scientific informatics capability.
Excelra CEO Anandbir Singh Brar said the combined bioinformatics, data and AI-native engineering resources should help answer target, indication and patient-selection questions faster and with more confidence as omics datasets grow.
