WIESBADEN – October 30, 2026 -- Germany's gross domestic product rose 0.2% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the second quarter, on a price-, seasonally and calendar-adjusted basis, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported.
Year-on-year output climbs 1.3% in price-adjusted terms
GDP was 1.3% higher than in the third quarter of 2025 on a price-adjusted basis. Adjusted for both price and calendar effects, the increase was 1.2%.
The economy had already expanded in the first half of 2026, so the third quarter extends a run of growth.
Investment declines while consumer spending edges up
Consumption expenditure rose slightly against the previous quarter on a price-, seasonally and calendar-adjusted basis. Investment fell, according to preliminary findings from Destatis.
Export momentum weakens markedly after a dynamic first half
Exports developed very dynamically in the first half of 2026 but lost noticeable momentum in the third quarter, Destatis said.
Destatis leaves Q1 and Q2 quarterly GDP unrevised
Alongside the first estimate for the third quarter, Destatis incorporated newly available statistical information into its calculations for the first and second quarters of 2026. The revision produced no changes to previously published price-adjusted quarterly GDP results.
Destatis will publish detailed third-quarter results on November 25, 2026.
