Harbor Health Acquires 27 Village Medical Clinics in Houston

Houston – October 06, 2026 -- Harbor Health has signed an agreement to acquire 27 Village Medical clinics in Greater Houston, expanding its combined care-and-coverage model into Texas's largest city weeks before individual and family health plans launch there for the first time.

Harbor expands to a fifth Texas market with no-deductible plans

Houston becomes the fifth Texas market where Harbor both delivers care and sells insurance, joining Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and El Paso. Once the deal closes, expected by year-end, Harbor will operate nearly 70 clinics and more than double its number of physicians and advanced practice providers statewide. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Village Medical Houston becomes the primary care home for Harbor members

Members choosing a Harbor plan in Houston will have Village Medical Houston clinics as their primary care home, with locations serving Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. Harbor plans carry no deductible, and specialist care referred by a Harbor clinician is covered at $0. Tony Miller, Harbor Health Co-Founder and CEO, said Houston was central to the company's plan to build the largest integrated payer-provider network in Texas.

Large employer plans are live now; individual enrollment opens Nov. 1

Large employer plans are already available across 29 Texas counties, including Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend and Brazoria, covering a combined population of more than 22 million Texans. Individual and family plans will be listed on HealthCare.gov for 2027, with enrollment opening Nov. 1 in 13 of the 29 counties and coverage effective Jan. 1.

Acquired clinics retain the Village Medical brand and existing insurance acceptance

The acquired Village Medical Houston clinics will join the Harbor Health Insurance Company provider network while continuing to operate under the Village Medical name. Patients do not need to take any action, and the clinics will continue accepting the insurance plans they currently accept.

Houston brokers face a Nov. 1 appointment deadline

Brokers seeking to sell Harbor plans in Houston must get appointed with Harbor before individual enrollment opens on Nov. 1.
