HEIDELBERG Amperfied to Manage Germany’s Largest EV Fleet Charging Network for SAP

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – March 26, 2025 - HEIDELBERG subsidiary Amperfied wins milestone contract with SAP SE

Amperfied GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG), has secured a major contract to manage the largest electric vehicle (EV) fleet charging infrastructure in Germany. The agreement with SAP SE marks a pivotal moment in corporate fleet electrification and underlines Amperfied’s growing role as a leading provider of integrated e-mobility solutions for enterprise customers.

Seamless transition with scalable infrastructure

Implementation of the project will commence in Q2 2025 with the migration of 1,720 SAP-owned charge points to Amperfied's advanced cloud-based backend. A future expansion to around 3,700 charge points is already in the planning pipeline. This scale of deployment positions the project as the largest of its kind nationwide, supporting SAP’s transition to a fully electric fleet.

SAP accelerates toward carbon neutrality

"Converting our vehicle fleet is a cornerstone of our sustainability goals, which include electrifying the entire fleet by 2030," said Steffen Krautwasser, Global Head of Car Fleet at SAP. "In Amperfied, we have found an experienced and local partner who will help us ensure that the charging infrastructure keeps pace with the growing number of electric cars in our fleet."

From April 2025, SAP employees will only be eligible to order electrified vehicles, with a complete shift to fully electric models beginning in 2026. The company’s current fleet of 19,000 vehicles already includes approximately 4,800 electric and 4,400 hybrid units.

Integrated solution delivery from a trusted partner

"We are delighted to have convinced SAP with our offer. This contract confirms our expertise in the field of charging infrastructure and underlines our ability to implement complex large-scale projects efficiently and reliably," said Jürgen Otto, CEO of HEIDELBERG.

The service package includes backend management of charging stations, access management via cards and apps for approximately 6,500 employees, comprehensive reporting tools, technical support, maintenance, and fraud prevention. Central to this offering is Amperfied’s cloud-based software platform, which enables intelligent charge point and process management tailored to SAP’s operational needs.

Charging-as-a-Service: a turnkey experience

"We offer charging infrastructure as a service," said Robin Karpp, Managing Director of Amperfied GmbH. "HEIDELBERG Amperfied takes care of the installation, availability and management of charge points both at work as well as at home. This allows customers like SAP to completely focus on their core business."

By covering all touchpoints—from hardware to software to support—Amperfied enables enterprise clients to meet their mobility goals without redirecting internal resources.

Driving the next phase of fleet electrification

The SAP partnership underscores Amperfied’s transformation into a full-spectrum e-mobility solutions provider, specifically for large business customers. In addition to offering a cloud-based backend and integrated billing system, Amperfied supports the integration of existing charge points, maintenance services, and infrastructure rental models—key components for organizations looking to transition to sustainable mobility at scale.

Positioned for growth in the EV era

With this high-profile contract, HEIDELBERG continues to diversify into the growing field of green technologies. While long recognized for leadership in mechanical engineering and digital printing, the company’s strategic expansion into the e-mobility sector is part of a broader initiative to align with sustainability trends and meet rising demand for intelligent infrastructure solutions.

HEIDELBERG’s international presence in over 170 countries, combined with its robust service and production network, positions it well to support clients globally as they transition to low-emission mobility systems.
