Udaipur – – September 11, 2026 -- Hindustan Zinc Limited hosted the third edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon in Udaipur, drawing more than 9,700 runners across on-ground and virtual formats, a nearly 45% jump from the previous edition.
Participation nearly doubles international and domestic reach
Runners came from 27 Indian states and six countries, including the United States, Sweden, Italy, Japan, Indonesia and Kenya. Domestic running communities from Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram joined the event, which is branded as 'India's Most Beautiful Marathon.'
Race results span half marathon, 10km and community categories
Mukesh Kumar won the men's Half Marathon in 1:08:47, while Pooja topped the women's category in 1:26:09. In the 10 km race, Tehender clocked 32:01 for the men's title and Kumari Parru won the women's race in 36:49. The event also included a 5 km category and a Champions Race designed for communities from rural Rajasthan, alongside participation from senior citizens, corporate teams and specially-abled runners.
Zinc producer ties brand identity to marathon medals
Every finisher received a Zinc Finisher Medal crafted from Hindustan Zinc's 99.99% pure zinc, linking the race directly to the company's core product and to Udaipur's historical identity as "Zinc City." The route passed Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli ranges, and the event incorporated the #RunForZeroHunger initiative.
CEO links event growth to sports tourism ambitions
Amarendu Prakash, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said the scale-up across three editions reflects an ambition to make the marathon one of India's most sought-after running events and to project the "Zinc City" identity internationally. Organizers noted the growing field size is contributing to Udaipur's positioning as a sports tourism destination on the global running calendar.
