HiTHIUM Unveils 6.9MWh 8-Hour BESS at All Energy Australia

Melbourne – October 29, 2026 -- HiTHIUM showed a 6.9MWh, 8-hour-native battery energy storage system (BESS) at All Energy Australia on October 28, claiming that a purpose-built 8-hour system undercuts two 4-hour systems by about 23% on cost.

CSIRO analysis puts the 8-hour cost advantage at 23%

HiTHIUM cited CSIRO GenCost analysis showing that two 4-hour systems delivering the same 8-hour output would cost about 23% more than a purpose-built 8-hour system. The company also pointed to Australian market data: 4-hour-plus high-price events accounted for over 70% of scarcity revenue in 2025, shifting storage value toward firm supply duration.

Policy demand is building. The federal Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) supports dispatchable clean energy projects, while New South Wales continues to advance dedicated long-duration energy storage (LDES) tenders for projects of eight hours or longer.

20-foot container system targets 96% round-trip efficiency and 25-year life

The 6.9MWh system fits into a standard 20-foot container. HiTHIUM specifies up to 96% round-trip efficiency, a 25-year design life and compatibility with PCS and EMS products from major global suppliers. Versus a 4-hour configuration, the company says land use falls by 15%, and levelized cost of storage (LCOS) can drop through system optimization. The design follows NFPA, IEC and AS standards.

Grid compliance platform covers R0, R1 and R2 stages

HiTHIUM also presented a Grid Compliance Simulation and Verification Platform that supports projects from R0 assessment and R1 capability assessment through commissioning and R2 model validation. It combines grid-code interpretation, plant-level modelling, automated simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing and site measurement validation. The company says this identifies compliance risks earlier and reduces late-stage rework.

Brisbane service center to open by mid-2027

HiTHIUM signed strategic cooperation agreements with Raystech, Ingeteam and other Australian partners at the show, targeting local workforce, spare-parts infrastructure and safety capabilities. Its Australian service network covers spare-parts warehousing, training, operations and maintenance, and compliant battery recycling, with nationwide coverage. A Brisbane service center is scheduled to open by mid-2027.

C&I and residential lines complete the Australian showcase

For commercial and industrial users, HiTHIUM displayed a 1022kWh liquid-cooled cabinet built on its proprietary 1175Ah LDES cells, aimed at peak shaving and solar self-consumption. Its residential range, the HeroEE 16 and ARKVOLT F8S series, supports integration with solar, heat pumps and EV charging.
