Rauma – October 27, 2026 -- Integris has been selected to supply naval ballistic protective systems for four vessels under construction for Finland's Squadron 2020 modernisation programme at Rauma Marine Constructions.
Integris joined the design process at the earliest stage
Integris engineers worked with the shipbuilder's project team from the start of ship design. The aim was to integrate survivability solutions while holding strict weight and performance targets.
Jari Nieminen, Programme Director at Rauma Marine Constructions, said the protection was integrated into the design to meet survivability requirements "without compromising speed, range, or payload."
Armour is qualified in certified ballistic laboratories
The armour was tested and fully qualified in certified ballistic laboratories, confirming compliance with international naval protection standards. Maritime conditions require ballistic multi-threat performance, blast mitigation, corrosion resistance and long-term durability under extreme operating conditions.
Jan Grimberg, Chief Commercial Officer of Integris, said the selection reflects the company's experience in lightweight, high-performance naval armour systems.
Squadron 2020 replaces ageing vessels with 117-metre ice-strengthened corvettes
Squadron 2020 is Finland's naval modernisation programme. It centres on the Pohjanmaa-class corvettes, which will replace ageing vessels and secure year-round maritime defence in the icy Baltic Sea. The 117-metre multi-role warships have ice-strengthened hulls and are designed for combat, surveillance and support missions.
Integris protection systems are already deployed on patrol craft, corvettes, amphibious platforms and command vessels worldwide. They are engineered to shield crew, mission-critical systems and vital compartments against ballistic and fragmentation threats.
