San Francisco – October 19, 2026 -- IXL Learning has acquired NoRedInk, an English language arts platform used by 9 in 10 U.S. school districts since its launch, adding a writing-instruction product with near-national district penetration to its education portfolio.
The source does not disclose financial terms. Tucker Capital served as exclusive financial advisor to NoRedInk.
NoRedInk will keep its brand and operate independently under IXL
NoRedInk will continue as an independent brand, and teachers and students will see no disruption to the platform, according to the announcement. IXL Learning will back the business with its resources and scale to bring writing instruction to more classrooms.
IXL CEO Paul Mishkin said NoRedInk earned its place in classrooms through word of mouth from educators. NoRedInk founder and CEO Jeff Scheur said he is excited about what the two companies will accomplish together.
Platform personalizes writing practice from single sentences to multi-paragraph essays
NoRedInk tailors writing instruction to individual strengths and areas for growth. Activities range from lightweight writing prompts to scaffolded essays and guided reviews, with personalized support when students get stuck. Learners restructure sentences, edit and mark up text, and manipulate multi-paragraph passages. The platform also weaves in each student's favorite celebrities, fictional characters and historical figures.
The company most recently introduced Read-Write-Reason, a set of integrated reading and writing activities aimed at analytical and critical thinking skills.
Diagnostics and standards-aligned content target district-level decision makers
Teachers can access practice exercises, writing activities and diagnostics aligned to state and national standards and assessments. Built-in diagnostic data, growth reports and gradebooks let teachers and administrators track progress in real time and identify where learners need extra help.
The deal extends IXL Learning's portfolio, which already includes IXL, Rosetta Stone, Dictionary.com, Vocabulary.com, TPT, Wyzant and Education.com, among other brands.
