KLX Energy Adds Ex-Hi-Crush CEO Hallen, Investor Edmonds to Board

HOUSTON – October 30, 2026 -- KLX Energy Services Holdings (NASDAQ: KLXE) has appointed investor Franklin S. Edmonds, Jr. and former Hi-Crush CEO E. Dirk Hallen as independent directors, replacing John Collins and Tom McCaffrey, who resigned from the board.

Both new directors will sit on the Nominating and Governance Committee. Edmonds also joins the Audit Committee, and Hallen joins the Compensation Committee.

KLX pairs a capital-allocation specialist with an oilfield-services operator

CEO Chris Baker said Edmonds' background in investments, capital allocation and governance and Hallen's oilfield services, operational and strategic experience would bring "complementary perspectives" as KLX executes its strategy. Baker credited the departing directors with guiding the company through the Covid era and what he called a "transformational capital rebalancing."

Edmonds brings more than three decades of investment experience

Edmonds was Co-Managing Partner and Head of Research at Panning Capital Management from 2013 to 2019. Before that he was one of five partners at King Street Capital, where he sat on the Global Investment Committee and managed the global research team. Earlier roles were at Oak Hill Advisors and Lehman Brothers.

He was an independent director and member of the Strategic Review Committee of Atkore Inc. (NYSE: ATKR) until its sale to Prysmian S.p.A. in October 2026. He currently serves on the board of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company, chairs the Jefferson Scholars Foundation and sits on the board of the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business.

Hallen led Hi-Crush from bankruptcy exit to a 2024 asset sale to Atlas

Hallen has more than 12 years in completions-focused oilfield services, spanning frac sand, proppant logistics and pressure pumping. He was CEO and a director of Hi-Crush Inc. from 2020 to 2024, leading the company after it emerged from bankruptcy in 2020. His mandate was to cut costs, improve operations and safety, and accelerate growth. That effort ended with the 2024 sale of most of Hi-Crush's assets to Atlas Energy Solutions.

From 2024 to 2026 he was CEO and a director of HC Minerals, which was spun out of Hi-Crush to hold its Northern White sand and rail logistics platform. Those assets were sold to Iron Oak Energy in 2025.

As Hi-Crush's designee, Hallen also sat on the board of PropX, a last-mile containerized proppant delivery provider, until its 2021 sale to Liberty Energy. He co-founded Pronghorn Logistics and served as its CEO from 2017 until Hi-Crush acquired it in 2019. He previously held senior roles at RockPile Energy Services, which Keane Group acquired in 2017, and began his career as a management consultant in Booz & Company's energy practice.
