Ann Arbor – September 18, 2026 -- Merge has launched MergeIQTM, an artificial intelligence layer embedded across its imaging platform, targeting radiology, cardiology, pathology and other imaging specialties without adding standalone systems for IT teams to manage.
Two AI applications debut inside Merge Workflow Orchestrator
The first MergeIQ applications, RelevancyIQTM and NaviIQ, are now available within Merge Workflow Orchestrator, the platform that unifies enterprise worklists for caseload management, interpretation and collaboration. RelevancyIQ identifies and ranks prior reports by relevance to the current case, while NaviIQ searches within those prior reports to surface findings and historical context. Both tools are embedded directly into the radiologist's diagnostic reading workflow, delivering supporting data at the point of interpretation rather than requiring clinicians to search across disconnected systems.
Radiologist burnout data drives the workflow-integration push
American Medical Association data cited by Merge place radiologists fifth among medical specialties for burnout, at a rate of 45.2%. Merge frames MergeIQ as a response to rising imaging volumes and reports that increasingly span multiple modalities, conditions the company says are straining radiologist capacity to review historical context efficiently.
Merge combines fine-tuned, third-party and in-house AI models under one governance layer
At the platform level, MergeIQ blends fine-tuned foundation models, third-party models and AI models developed in-house, then embeds the resulting intelligence into existing applications and workflows. Merge positions this as a governed, scalable adoption path that extends prior technology investments rather than forcing organizations to onboard a separate AI platform.
