Milwaukee Cylinder Launches ABC Tech to Extend Cylinder Life

Milwaukee – November 02, 2026 -- Milwaukee Cylinder has launched Active Barrier Chamber (ABC) technology, a cylinder design that flushes contaminants off the rod before they reach the rod seals, to extend service life and improve uptime in highly contaminated industrial environments.

Active flush chamber replaces passive wiper-only defense

The system places a sealed flush chamber directly behind the primary wiper. Continuous low-pressure fluid flow captures abrasive contaminants and removes them from the rod before they reach the rod seal area. The design also protects the piston seals and cylinder tube.

Milwaukee Cylinder says traditional passive wipers can let finer particles enter the cylinder. The company links this to rod seal degradation, piston wear, internal scoring and costly unplanned downtime.

Secondary wiper seal adds second barrier on the rod

A secondary internal wiper seal sits alongside the primary wiper. It dislodges contaminants travelling along the rod surface, so the flushing fluid can capture them and carry them out of the chamber before they reach the rod seals.

ABC technology fits all H-Series mounting configurations

ABC is available on Milwaukee Cylinder H-Series cylinders in all mounting configurations. The company says this allows use across a wide range of new and existing applications.

Douglas Lacina, President of Milwaukee Cylinder, called ABC "a great solution for highly contaminated environments."

The company is offering application assistance through its engineering team, along with technical information and a video showing how the technology works.
