Dallas – October 14, 2026 -- Nanoscope Therapeutics has appointed Troy Short, who built the global supply chain for Zolgensma across more than 30 countries at AveXis, as Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain while its lead gene therapy MOGENRY is under regulatory review in the United States and Japan.
Short takes charge of GMP manufacturing, commercial supply and global distribution
Short will lead Nanoscope's GMP manufacturing, commercial supply and global distribution strategy as the company moves toward potential approval and launch of MOGENRY (sonpiretigene isteparvovec; MCO-010). He has more than 20 years of operations and supply chain experience in pharmaceuticals and gene therapy.
His stated priorities are strengthening manufacturing partnerships, building a resilient commercial supply chain and ensuring product availability to patients and physicians upon potential approval.
Short's AveXis record covers cold-chain design, FDA licensure and interim CTO duties
At AveXis, Short built and led the global commercial supply chain organization through the Zolgensma launch. His remit included designing the specialized cold-chain model required for patient-specific delivery, negotiating supply agreements, managing raw material sourcing and leading an enterprise resource planning system implementation. He also played a leadership role in FDA licensure and commercial readiness. After Novartis acquired AveXis, he served as interim Chief Technical Officer during the transition.
He later served as Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain at Jaguar Gene Therapy, where he built the CMC and supply chain organization, internalized process and analytical development, and directed the design of its GMP manufacturing facility. He then served as Chief Operating Officer of Advanced Medicine Partners, leading design and startup of its GMP facility. Through his firm GTxConsulting, he most recently advised biotechnology companies and investment firms on CMC strategy, supply chain and BLA readiness. Earlier, he spent 11 years at Hospira, a Pfizer company, as Director of Supply Chain for sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing.
FDA and PMDA reviews of MOGENRY are both under way
The FDA has accepted and filed Nanoscope's Biologics License Application for MOGENRY in retinitis pigmentosa with severe vision loss, and the application is under review. A Japan New Drug Application for inherited retinal dystrophies is also under PMDA review.
Chief Executive Officer Sulagna Bhattacharya said a one-time intravitreal therapy manufactured in the U.S. must reach every patient at quality and without interruption, and that such capability must be built years in advance.
MOGENRY is an investigational, one-time, in-office intravitreal optogenetic gene therapy. According to the company, it requires no genetic testing, invasive surgery or repeat dosing, and is designed for administration within existing retina office workflows.
