Oslo – September 15, 2026 -- Nel ASA (OSE: NEL) has signed a framework agreement with Hydrasun to build a dedicated European assembly and integration facility for its modular MC Series PEM electrolyser platform, adding capacity beyond its existing US operations.
Hydrasun will integrate balance-of-plant systems while Nel retains stack production in Connecticut
Under the agreement, Hydrasun will procure, integrate, and manufacture the balance of plant systems surrounding Nel's electrolyser stacks, delivering a fully integrated, containerized offering. Stack production remains at Nel's Wallingford, Connecticut facility in the US, with Hydrasun handling final assembly for European markets.
Aberdeen facility upgrade backed by Scottish Government's Just Transition Fund
Hydrasun will invest in and upgrade its Aberdeen facilities, supported by the Scottish Government's Just Transition Fund, to create Scotland's first electrolyser assembly and integration facility. James Gaskell, Chief Executive at Hydrasun, said the project builds on the company's 50-year history in fluid transfer, power and control solutions, and clean energy for the energy industry.
Project expected to create up to 12 new jobs and safeguard 11 existing roles
Hydrasun has stated the initiative has the potential to create up to 12 new jobs while safeguarding a further 11 existing roles, contributing to skills development and supply chain activity in Aberdeen's energy sector.
Nel gains manufacturing flexibility as demand grows for standardized electrolysers
