Amsterdam – September 11, 2026 -- NetActuate has launched MoQ Relay, a managed Media over QUIC delivery network that lets broadcasters and streaming platforms publish a live feed once and distribute it to subscribers from relay capacity in more than 45 locations worldwide.
Relay tests show a single feed can multiply reach without added backbone cost
In internal testing across a four-relay setup, one relay delivered sixteen times more video output while drawing the same backbone capacity required to serve a single viewer. NetActuate says this decouples audience size from network cost, a key constraint as satellite capacity used for broadcast distribution is being scaled back globally.
MoQ Relay joins two existing NetActuate live-media services
The new offering is the third product in NetActuate's live-media portfolio, alongside the NetActuate Media Substrate and the C-Band Transition Acceleration Service. It operates independently but can be combined with Media Substrate for customers seeking contribution and distribution from a single vendor.
NetActuate positions itself as the operator running the relays, not just software atop rented networks
"Every conversation about MoQ ends up at the same question, which is who runs the relays," said Mark Mahle, CEO at NetActuate. "We already run the network underneath them, so that is our lane and where we excel."
MoQ Relay runs on infrastructure NetActuate operates directly rather than on rented transit. Paths between relay locations are measured continuously, with traffic rerouted automatically when a route degrades. Each session is pinned to a stable per-location address, allowing routing changes underneath without disrupting the session.
Each customer gets dedicated relay capacity and tenant isolation
Capacity is deployed only in the locations a customer's traffic requires, drawn from NetActuate's global footprint and extendable on request. Each customer receives its own tenant with namespaces issued by the service, and the platform reports delivery data per hop and per track from ingress to egress.
NetActuate opens a no-charge evaluation program ahead of IBC 2026
NetActuate is offering qualified broadcasters, streaming platforms and distribution teams a no-charge evaluation deployment, including dedicated relay capacity, observability, and support from its network team. "MoQ is moving out of protocol work and into deployment planning," said Mark de Jong, VP, Business Development. "A managed relay service on an operator-run network is a practical way to evaluate it without building every piece yourself."
