United States – October 27, 2026 -- NFTE has published a NEXUS policy brief with three recommendations for policymakers and education leaders on preparing students for an AI-driven workforce. The brief is titled "Entrepreneurship Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: How AI Literacy, Entrepreneurial Learning, and Human Skills Can Prepare Students for the Future of Work."
NFTE argues technical AI literacy alone falls short for students
The brief says the question for schools is shifting from whether students will use generative AI to how they use it thoughtfully, critically, and creatively. It names critical thinking, creativity, communication, adaptability, and entrepreneurial skills as necessary for working alongside AI.
Next Level Startup program and Campus Without Walls partnership supply the practical examples
The brief draws on NFTE's Next Level Startup: Make AI Your Cofounder program and its partnership with Campus Without Walls. In both, students use AI to develop and test real-world ideas. They also learn to evaluate AI-generated information, exercise judgment, and strengthen their own problem-solving.
Brief sets out three recommendations for policymakers and education leaders
- Develop comprehensive AI literacy frameworks that include human and entrepreneurial skills.
- Expand experiential and entrepreneurial approaches to AI learning.
- Invest in teacher training and professional development so educators can integrate AI into instruction.
NFTE says the goal is to prepare students not only to use AI but to lead and innovate in an AI-enabled economy.
