Schlieren – September 07, 2026 -- NovaGo Therapeutics AG has closed a Series B financing round of CHF 24 million ($30 million), led by Neurimmune and Pureos, to fund a proof-of-concept trial for its anti-Nogo-A antibody in acute spinal cord injury.
The equity round drew participation from existing and new investors and was supplemented by non-dilutive funding from the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation and Wings for Life.
NovaGo to enroll 120 patients across Germany, Spain and Switzerland
Proceeds will push the company's lead program, NG004, into a fully randomized, double-blind proof-of-concept study recruiting 120 acute spinal cord injury patients at centers in the three countries. NG004 is a fully human antibody designed to block Nogo-A, a protein that inhibits nerve fiber regeneration and neuroplasticity in the central nervous system.
No approved regenerative therapy currently exists for spinal cord injury
Spinal cord injury remains an area of high unmet medical need, with no approved treatment able to restore lost neurological function. NovaGo's approach targets Nogo-A with the goal of enabling functional recovery following injury.
Professor Martin Schwab, NovaGo's Chief Scientific Officer, said the program's advance into this clinical stage brings the company closer to a needed treatment for patients living with the consequences of spinal cord injury.
Phase 1 results with NG004 encourage co-investors to back next stage
Professor Roger M. Nitsch, Chairman and CEO of Neurimmune and a NovaGo board member, cited encouraging Phase 1 results with NG004 as the basis for continuing the clinical development program alongside NovaGo and co-investors. Dominik Escher, Managing Partner of Pureos Bioventures, said the Phase 1 progress showed strong potential for a new regenerative treatment option for spinal cord injury patients.
NovaGo CEO Stefan Moese said backing from Wings for Life and the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation was instrumental in making the current development phase possible, enabling the company to advance the proof-of-concept study.
