Omnilert Launches Dual-AI Gun Detection Platform

Leesburg, Va. – October 27, 2026 -- Omnilert has introduced a dual-AI gun detection platform that pairs its primary firearm detection neural network with a secondary Contextual AI, letting customers configure how each detection is evaluated and handled.

Contextual AI keeps customer data private and leaves the detection model unchanged

The Primary Detection AI identifies visible firearms in compatible live camera feeds. The Contextual AI applies industry- and customer-specific context without altering that model. It analyzes video captured before and after a detection to assess the surrounding scene and activity.

Omnilert says both AIs draw on its 100% organic approach to training and its large operational customer base. Unlike many large-scale AIs, the Contextual AI keeps all data private to the customer, which Omnilert describes as a key requirement for many organizations.

Platform runs on customers' existing compatible cameras

Organizations can add firearm detection without replacing their broader video infrastructure. After a possible firearm is detected, images, video, location information and other event data can be routed for human verification and fed into existing emergency response procedures.

Omnilert cites varied environments: schools with ROTC activities and resource officers, hospitals with armed officers, enterprises with offices, factories and distribution centers, and public venues, transportation systems and critical infrastructure.

Three controls let customers predefine how authorized-firearm scenarios are handled

Alert Customization lets customers define recipient groups, communication paths, included media, user permissions, location-specific procedures and escalation models during implementation. One organization could, for example, set separate notification packages for central security, local leadership and external responders.

Advanced and Contextual Filters apply known context to scenarios such as ROTC activities, armed security, law enforcement response, planned system testing and active-threat training. Customers choose in advance whether to keep receiving notifications for these events, suppress them or manage them separately.

Pause lets authorized users halt event delivery for selected cameras or locations for a defined period. Detection stays active on all other cameras and facilities.

Human review remains in the loop for life-safety decisions

Omnilert says configurations are supported by defined permissions, documented workflows, approved escalation logic and auditable system activity. Trained personnel keep final accountability for the response.

CEO Dave Fraser said the aim is to turn gun detection "from a single-purpose alert into a foundation for increasingly valuable security intelligence."
