Q'Apel Launches Lynx Aspiration Catheter for Stroke Thrombectomy in US

Fremont, Calif. – September 15, 2026 -- Q'Apel Medical has launched the Lynx Aspiration Catheter System in the United States, expanding its neurovascular portfolio into the aspiration category for mechanical thrombectomy, the standard of care for acute ischemic stroke caused by vessel occlusion.

Lynx becomes the second Q'Apel product built on proprietary QLCT technology

The Lynx system marks the second device to feature Q'Apel's proprietary Q'Apel Laser Cut Tube (QLCT) technology, following the company's earlier product on this engineering platform. The catheters use a bimetal shaft design with an open-spaced nitinol structure intended to balance proximal support with distal flexibility while resisting kinking during navigation through complex cerebrovascular anatomy.

Platform offers three catheter sizes for coaxial compatibility

The unified Lynx platform includes three inner-diameter sizes -- 0.044-inch, 0.058-inch, and 0.072-inch -- engineered for vessel-to-catheter ratio optimization and coaxial compatibility across all sizes, according to the company. Aspiration is applied solely through the inner catheter when used coaxially.

Physician says trackable design speeds procedural decisions

Kaustubh Limaye, MD, Associate Professor of Neurology, Neurological Surgery, Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Indiana University School of Medicine, said the three catheters are sized to track through one another and work seamlessly together, giving physicians flexibility to match catheter to vessel. He said this can determine the difference between a timely save and procedural delays in stroke cases where every minute matters.

Q'Apel signals broader neurovascular strategy beyond aspiration

Jeff Krolik, Chief Technology Officer at Q'Apel Medical, said Lynx extends the company's QLCT technology into aspiration and reflects its evolution toward a broader neurovascular portfolio addressing procedural challenges in thrombectomy. The Lynx System became commercially available across the United States following U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance.
