San Francisco – October 29, 2026 -- The RealReal (Nasdaq: REAL) has appointed Alexis Hoopes, who led eBay's $10 billion global fashion business, as Chief Merchandising Officer, handing her control of the luxury resale marketplace's merchandising strategy.
Hoopes to focus on luxury assortment, personalized discovery and supply growth
Hoopes will lead merchandising strategy with three stated priorities: strengthening the luxury assortment, improving personalized product discovery, and opening new growth opportunities through technology, data and global marketplace expertise. She said she intends to expand the assortment and unlock new sources of supply.
CEO Rati Sahi Levesque cited Hoopes' "rare combination of luxury merchandising expertise, global marketplace experience and operational discipline."
eBay track record spans authentication, cross-border supply and resale partnerships
At eBay, Hoopes served as Vice President and General Manager of Global Fashion, with teams across the U.S., U.K. and Europe. She expanded the Authenticity Guarantee program into new categories, price points and international markets to build trust among buyers and sellers.
She also grew luxury supply through cross-border commerce between Asia and the U.S. and developed resale-as-a-service partnerships with leading brands and retailers.
Mattel and Nordstrom roles add direct-to-consumer and e-commerce depth
Before eBay, Hoopes was Senior Vice President of E-commerce at Mattel, where she built the direct-to-consumer business, launched two digital commerce platforms and integrated American Girl's e-commerce operations. Earlier, she spent nearly 15 years at Nordstrom in roles spanning merchandising, strategy, e-commerce and planning.
