Elmhurst – September 15, 2026 -- Saltbox will open its first Chicago-area co-warehousing facility this fall in Elmhurst, Illinois, adding a 114-suite operations hub to its 13-location U.S. network and launching a $5,000 grant for a local product-based business.

The facility at 934 N. Church Rd. offers suites ranging from 88 to 1,809 square feet, with smaller units holding roughly four pallets for one or two people and larger suites accommodating up to 125 pallets for full fulfillment teams. Members get month-to-month access to loading docks, daily carrier pickups, conference rooms, a content studio, 24/7 security and an on-site operations team that receives inventory and supports carrier handoffs.
Location sits five minutes from I-290/I-294 interchange and near O'Hare
The site is roughly two miles from downtown Elmhurst, seven miles from the Elk Grove Village industrial park, and a short drive from O'Hare International Airport, placing members near major Midwest transportation corridors. Saltbox VP of Marketing Olivia Mariani said Chicago was among the most requested markets from existing members seeking to position inventory closer to customers and cut shipping costs.
Made in Chicago Grant awards $5,000 membership credit to one local business
Saltbox is offering a $5,000 credit toward Saltbox Elmhurst membership to one randomly selected qualified entrant from Chicagoland and the western suburbs, including DuPage County, Elk Grove Village and Oak Brook. The winner will be announced at the location's grand opening ceremony this fall; the credit applies only to membership fees, not additional services, and no purchase is required to enter.
Company targets ecommerce, CPG and light-assembly operators, not pure storage users
Saltbox positions the Elmhurst site for direct-to-consumer brands, consumer packaged goods companies, wholesalers and businesses handling light assembly or kitting, along with project pros and industrial operators needing dock access and operational support. The company states the model is not designed for businesses seeking only inexpensive storage, for which self-storage may be more suitable.
Conference rooms named after Elmhurst's 19th-century settlement history
The building's conference rooms are named Salt Creek, after the waterway tied to the area's earliest settlers, and Cottage Hill, Elmhurst's original name from 1845 to 1869. Saltbox CEO Katerina Cirilli said the company built the model to let members focus on running product operations while infrastructure, equipment and staff are already in place.
Saltbox, founded in 2019, now operates in nine major U.S. markets with the Elmhurst opening marking its entry into the Chicago metro area.
