Södertälje, Sweden – September 17, 2026 -- Scania has launched Scania Dynamic, a comprehensive update to its R- and S-series trucks that cuts total energy consumption by around 2 percent while overhauling the driver's cab environment.
Aerodynamic redesign drives the efficiency gain
The 2 percent energy reduction, which varies by vehicle specification and operation, stems from exterior changes that lower air drag. These include digital rear-view mirrors, side skirt extensions, redesigned A-pillars, new door handles and a front end built to support Increased Vehicle Dimension legislation. Scania says the efficiency improvement applies across both combustion and battery-electric powertrains, translating into lower fuel use for diesel fleets and reduced electricity draw for electric trucks.
Digital mirrors replace glass with dual full-HD screens
One of the most visible changes is the shift to digital rear-view mirrors, using two full-HD screens with standard, zoom and wide-angle viewing modes plus adjustable reference lines. The camera lenses are heated and positioned for natural dirt protection to prevent fogging and ice buildup during manoeuvring.
Cab overhaul adds recycled materials and an 800 mm bed option
Inside, curtains are now made of 100 percent recycled material and wall and ceiling panels contain 70 percent recycled content. Scania has introduced a new seat range developed to meet updated headrest safety regulations, alongside an 800 mm reclining bed option with a back section adjustable up to 60 degrees. Interior lighting now spans multiple tiers, from functional white light to an Ambient+ mode with colour themes.
Driver-assistance suite and hardware updates target daily usability
Scania has upgraded headlamps for extended high-beam range and added Safe Stop Assist, Forward Distance Alert, Vulnerable Road User detection, Speed Sign Cruise Control and Curve Speed Cruise Control. Practical additions include a 15W magnetic wireless phone charger and an external ventilated glove hanger tray for storing wet gear outside the cab.
