Sciensus names ex-HC-One chief James Tugendhat as CEO

London – October 29, 2026 -- Sciensus has appointed James Tugendhat OBE as Chief Executive Officer, bringing in an executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience across healthcare and complex service organisations.

Former HC-One group CEO replaces interim chief Gordon Cox

Tugendhat was most recently Group CEO of HC-One, the UK's largest care home operator. He previously held senior positions at Bupa, including CEO of Health Dialog, a US health analytics and chronic disease management company. He also spent seven years as a non-executive director of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Gordon Cox led Sciensus as interim CEO while the Board searched for a permanent successor. Cox continues as Chief Operating Officer and as a member of key company boards.

Chairman Peter Nicklin cites regulated-healthcare experience

Chairman Peter Nicklin said Tugendhat "understands what it takes to run a regulated, people-centred healthcare business." Nicklin also thanked Cox for his leadership over the last few months.

Sciensus cares for more than 300,000 NHS patients a year

Sciensus provides specialist clinical nursing and patient support in patients' homes across cancer, rare disease and chronic conditions. It works with more than 180 NHS trusts in the UK. Across Europe, the company supplies commercialisation expertise and operational infrastructure to global pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

Tugendhat targets patients, providers and pharma partners

Tugendhat said Sciensus helps patients access specialist medicines and care, including treatments delivered at home. He plans to work with colleagues across the business and build on existing expertise to support patients, healthcare providers and the company's biotech and pharmaceutical partners.
