Linköping – September 15, 2026 -- Sectra has signed a contract extension to expand its Sectra One enterprise imaging solution from the Capital Region in Denmark to cover the whole of the newly formed Region Østdanmark, created by the merger of the Capital Region and Region Zealand.
Merged Danish region unifies imaging systems across eastern Denmark
Hospitals joining from Region Zealand will move onto the same cloud-delivered platform already running in the Capital Region, giving clinicians access to a patient's prior images regardless of which hospital performed the exam. The system will be used across all of the region's hospitals for reviewing and storing images in radiology, breast imaging, nuclear medicine and clinical physiology.
Clinician user base set to grow to about 1,300
Around 1,000 clinicians currently work concurrently in the system, a figure Sectra expects to rise to roughly 1,300 as Region Zealand hospitals come online. Region Østdanmark estimates more than 5,000 examinations are performed daily across its facilities.
Contract originally signed in 2022 now runs until 2037
The agreement with the Capital Region, first signed in 2022, has been extended to cover the additional hospitals and now runs until 2037. The extension was signed in the second quarter of Sectra's 2026/2027 fiscal year.
Sectra delivers the platform as a fully managed private cloud service
Sectra assumes responsibility for all hardware, software and other IT components under the arrangement, which the company says frees regional IT teams to focus on workflow optimization rather than infrastructure maintenance. "With the whole region working in the same system, hospitals can share images and expertise, so a case can reach the right specialist with the patient's earlier images already there," said Sune Henriksen, Managing Director of Sectra Denmark, noting the company has supported the Capital Region since 2023.
