Shell Starts Silvertip Phase 3 Output at Perdido Spar in Gulf

Houston – October 29, 2026 -- Shell Offshore Inc. has started production at Phase 3 of the Silvertip project, adding two wells that are expected to produce up to 6,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) at peak rates at the Shell-operated Perdido spar in the Gulf of America.

Silvertip Frio wells are tied into existing subsea infrastructure

The two wells sit in the Silvertip Frio reservoir, where Shell holds 40% and operates, and Chevron U.S.A. holds 60%. Phase 3 connects them to subsea infrastructure already in place, avoiding a new host facility.

Current estimated recoverable volumes for Phase 3 are 17 million boe, classified as 2P under the Society of Petroleum Engineers' Resource Classification System. Both the peak rate and the resource estimate are 100% gross figures.

Perdido ownership is split among four partners

Perdido stands in the Alaminos Canyon, about 200 miles south of Galveston, Texas, in roughly 8,000 feet of water. Shell operates the Perdido Regional Host with a 35% working interest. Chevron U.S.A. Inc. holds 37.5%, 3C Perdido Holdings 26.5% and BP 1%.

Shell frames the tie-back as life extension for a mature host

Colette Hirstius, Shell's Executive Vice President for the Gulf of America and Shell USA President, said new volumes through existing Perdido infrastructure let Shell deliver more value and optimize the asset's life.

Shell describes itself as the largest producing leaseholder in the Gulf of America. It says its production there has among the lowest greenhouse gas intensity in the world, a comparison against other oil and gas producing members of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP).
