Siensmetrica Renames Itself Tessa AI, Plans Lifecycle Research Tools

Tucson – October 14, 2026 -- Siensmetrica, Inc. has changed its name to Tessa AI, Inc. effective October 7, aligning the company with the brand of its AI research evaluation platform, Tessa, and signaling a push beyond paper scoring into tools for the full lifecycle of scientific research.

Tessa AI has served biomedical users since a May 2026 launch

Since its May 2026 launch, the Tessa platform has been used by researchers, clinicians, and biopharma professionals to evaluate biomedical studies. Each score comes with the evidence behind it. The company said customers, partners, and its own team already called it Tessa.

The former name was a coined word meaning roughly "knowledge measurement," reflecting the company's origin as a system for scoring published research. Siensmetrica.com now redirects to tessaai.co.

Company plans tools spanning manuscripts, literature surveys, and news checks

Tessa AI is building tools that support a study across its entire life. Planned functions include:

  • Strengthening manuscripts before submission
  • Surveying whole fields of literature in a fraction of the usual time
  • Helping the public check news stories against the underlying research
  • Evaluating work published decades earlier

Chief Science Officer Marvin J. Slepian, MD, JD, calls this the "natural history of scientific research." The first new Tessa product is expected in the coming weeks.

Tessa AI removes author reputation from its TScore

The company recently removed author reputation from the TScore so papers are judged on evidence alone. Its platform is built on the T.E.S. framework: Transparency, Explainability, and Significance.

Tessa AI's leadership argues that research evaluation has not kept pace with the volume of published science. It cites stretched and sometimes gamed peer review, padded citation counts, and prestige metrics that often stand in for real evaluation.

CEO Marc Toth said the old name described where the company started, while Tessa describes where it is going. Slepian said the goal is to bring transparency and rigor to every stage so good science is recognized wherever it comes from.
