Slovenia Unveils EXPO 2027 Pavilion Concept as Serbia Trade Hits $2.04B

Ljubljana – October 16, 2026 -- Slovenia presented its pavilion concept for EXPO 2027 Belgrade at a Ljubljana networking event, as bilateral goods trade with Serbia stood at approximately USD 2.04 billion in 2025, according to Serbia's Statistical Office.

Slovenia's Expo commissioner and tourist board director present the pavilion concept

Saša Lavrič, General Commissioner for EXPO 2027 Belgrade, and Mag. Maja Pak Olaj, Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board, presented the concept at the "Visit Serbia B2B Networking" event. More than 50 business and tourism representatives attended, linking Slovenian companies and travel agents with Serbian partners.

Opening remarks came from Danilo Jerinić, CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade; Blaž Cvar, President of Slovenia's Chamber of Craft and Small Business; and Mag. Leon Korošec, State Secretary at Slovenia's Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport.

Organizers target contracts and investment that outlast the three-month Expo

Jerinić said the Expo's success would be measured by what remains afterwards, citing business connections that lead to contracts, investments that create jobs and visitors who return.

B2B sessions focused on cross-border itineraries and travel packages designed to draw visitors to destinations beyond Belgrade.

More than 1,200 Slovenian companies employ about 25,000 people in Serbia

The Slovenian corporate footprint in Serbia provides the commercial base for the cooperation. EXPO 2027 Belgrade runs from 15 May to 15 August 2027 under the theme "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All." It is the first Specialised Expo in the Western Balkans and is set to bring together more than 140 international participants.
